Pour Over Tips - Tip #1: Fold Anchors Back

July 23, 2020 | By Kuju Coffee | Coffee, Pour Over Tips

New to pour over? Ever have problems with your pour over? Then this short series of articles is for you. We'll be going over some of our best quick tips to help you take our single-serve pour overs and confidently brew incredible cups of coffee consistently wherever you wander. So grab yourself some pour overs and let's get brewing.

Tip #1:

Fold the anchors back for extra stability.

Why does this matter?

If you've ever brewed our Pocket PourOvers™ into a large mug or a mug with a very thick lip, then it's possible that you've run into problems with the filter falling into your mug or not staying on properly. A filter in your coffee can make for a not-so-pleasant experience. Fortunately, our pour overs are designed to prevent falling filters when you fold the Steady-Safe™ anchors back.

How do you do this?

Each Steady-Safe™ anchor has two perforated lines that run vertically along the sides. These lines are meant to be folded  so that the anchors can provide more stability to the filter on larger mugs. To fold the anchors back, hold each anchor along the sides and gently pull back like in the video above. The anchors should fold with ease. You can either fold before placing on the mug or while on the mug.

How will this make my Kuju Coffee better?

When you fold the anchors back, the filter will sit on your mug more securely, so that when you begin pouring hot water to brew the coffee, it won't slip and fall into your coffee. Not only will the more stabilized filter prevent any excess coffee grounds in your coffee, but it will also make your brewing experience more pleasant. You won't need to worry about the filter falling in or in some cases worry about holding the filter to the cup while pouring piping hot water. The anchors do all the work and all you need to do is pour and enjoy your fresh coffee.
